5 BUSINESS [and Social Psychology] BOOKS that will Change the way you think

This video is about great ideas and observations from 5 brilliant books. Books that will challenge conventional thinking and get you to look to see things from a different perspective. The books cover subjects such as how to negotiate, how to persuade and how to succeed. There is an inspiring biography in there and the final book looks at what makes something a hit. You’ll find these books on the shelves in the business or social psychology section of a bookshop but in my opinion they are so good they cannot be categorized.

I'm sorry to say that, to me, this kind of books is only lame psychology and pure bullshit actually. Success in anything means hard work, good luck and personal skills. Anything more than that is just moot agitation.
If you really want-and have time-to look deeper into business psychology, just study 25 centuries of major philosophers before us who will give you a real insight into business and mind and social mechanisms.

    Hello from France!

If you've been here from more than ten years maybe you watched the Camera Café TV Show. It was quite popular and used to be broadcast after the "vingt heures" at a time when many people are watching TV. I'm commenting about it because just like this anecdote about Gilette razors, TV producers long denied the idea due to the fixed plan (interview of an author and actor of the serie in which he explains it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UyTEBeIcc6U) and yet it was a success. Thank you for your lessons (and I hate Kévin as first name indeed) 😉

Hello! I am not an English native speaker and I am a little confused about the usage of "HAVE" meaning ‘to cause to happen’ or ‘to experience’. So, I understand the structures are: "Have + object + infinitive / -ing form" or "Have + object + past participle".

    For intance:

    1) I had a package delivered yesterday –> What does this sentence mean?: a) I recieved a package which somebody sent to me yesterday; b) Somebody sent the package because I asked her/him to do it for me yesterday (causative form)

May it be that something is missing in the sentence?

    2) He had me wash his car OR He had me washing his car. –> The first structure is clearly a causative, but…What kind of grammatical structure is the second one?

    3) I have something happen to me.

My experience: Something happens to me.

I had something happen to me.

My experience: Something happened to me.

I have something happening to me.

My experience: Something is happening to me.

I had something happening to me.

My experience: Something was happening to me.

Are any of those sentences written above even correct? Is it an idiomatic matter, but not grammatically right?

    4) I have my car stolen.

My experience: My car is/gets stolen.

    I had my car stolen.

My experience: My car was/got stolen.

Assuming that sentences in case number three are correct, can I say: "I had my car steal"? I reckon I cannot, but…why? I know that "My car was stolen" is a passive voice, but "Somebody stole my car" is an active voice.

Thanks in advance for your patience and response.

    Stay mellow!
