HOW EMOTIONS AFFECT PEOPLE | Music + therapy session – Social Psychology experiment
HOW EMOTIONS AFFECT PEOPLE is a video of Romeo Lippi, Italian psychologist and psychotherapist, author of the project “Lo Psicologo del Rock” (in English “the Rock Psychologist”), singer-songwriter and founder of the rock band “Le Ferite”.
The video shows in a direct way the negative effects of blocked inner energy and the power of emotions, when they are released and amplified in a setting such as that of the session by the psychologist.
In the video, under the direction of filmmaker Giulia Selvaggini, four volunteers were made to shoot during a psychotherapy session with Romeo Lippi, who created with each of them a relationship based on “cycle of contact” with their feelings: from reflection to block, until the final release. In the video we see how the emotions work, what happens when they are expressed (showing emotions) and what effect they have on the body and mind in different people to culture, experiences, age, gender.
The video’s soundtrack is the song “Il Cielo d’Acciaio”, written (text and music) from Lippi himself, single of the new release of his group “Le Ferite”; the text describes, in alternative rock language, the relationship between patient and psychotherapist: from the initial difficulties and doubts, through the trust and contact, until the liberation of the blocks and finally feel better.
The close connection between the images of the video and the music is not accidental. In fact the project “Lo Psicologo del Rock” and the rock band “Le Ferite” have as central axis the Songtherapy, integration of music + psychology, both considered two arts, much closer than you imagine.
People listen to music continuously and not only for a purpose purely playful: the songs are related memories, reports, stories and facts of the most important of his life. People often fail to live, discover or express certain emotions only through the songs they listen. Indeed, the choice of songs to listen to is absolutely subjective and is based on a boost linked to emotional involvement with them.
That is why the music and songs can help, along with the psychology, people feel better, unleash their creativity, increase their motivation to study and to work.
With the project “Lo Psicologo del Rock”, born in 2014, Romeo Lippi with “Le Ferite” offers a reading of the great songwriters of the Italian and international music through a new interpretive key, deep and emotional. Psychologist Rock organizes evening entertainment, workshop, seminars, meetings in schools.
