Mindfulness: The Psychology Behind Mindfulness And Meditation

A passionate and Enthralling discussion on the power of Mindfulness By professor Mark Williams Of Oxford University. His research focuses on psychological models and the treatment of depression and suicidal behaviour, particularly the application of experimental cognitive psychology to understand the processes that increase risk of suicidal behaviour in depression.

Professor Williams starts by explaining how Mindfulness is achieved through attention on a single point, a kind of anchor to the present moment, usually the breath.

The Professor discusses Jon Kabat-Zinn’s vast experience. A collection of ancient Techniques for teaching Mindfulness. He say’s Kabat-Zinn taught patients with chronic pain how to deal with or “Live around the edges of chronic pain”, with great success.
A myriad of aliments from depression to pain during child birth are treatable with mindfulness training says Professors Williams.
