The Nurture Room (Child Psychology Documentary) | Real Stories

Filmed over a period of one year, The Nurture Room accesses three schools (three of only five schools in the whole of the UK that agreed to participate in the film), and follows a handful of children as they go on their journey back to full participation in the classroom via the ‘nurture room’. This film provides an insight into the lives of troubled children within schools.

The Nurture Room covers a new approach to helping children with Additional Support Needs in the form of social, emtional and/or behavioural needs which are acting as barriers to the children’s learning.

The Nurture Room is a place within the school where children can be given freedom to express themselves. The aim is to effectively address the children’s needs and prevent exclusion from the classroom and any distress caused by them not having the coping skills, through no fault of their own. Primarily, these rooms hope to ensure that as few children as possible are excluded from school due to bad behaviour. By taking a proactive approach, these rooms within schools ‘nurture’ children to give them the best possible chance of coping within a mainstream classroom setting alongside their peers.

Doesn’t he have some sort of autism? Shouldn’t he get more help? Seems like Jaime has more issues than behavioral:(

My late mom in law used to be a teacher, a long time ago, before the concept of "nurture rooms". They sent her all the "difficult" children – those who, in today's world, would have been put on Ritalin. She managed to calm those terrors down, and get them to accept order and structure in their world. She always said that the children's behaviour was like a film of what is happening at home. Some poor children have no alternative than turning out as terrors. (BTW, I have no problem with kids taking medication, as long as you know it is not a problem being caused by inept parents.) I have the GREATEST respect for the teachers in this programme.

I feel very bad for these children as well as the teacher. There are very REAL reasons why these kids act up, something is very wrong in their little lives

I wish 🇺🇲 would adopt this model of education! The teachers were all very engaged in interaction with the children. Very tuned into each child's behavior & needs. I also noticed none of them were on their cellphones 📱 and there weren't 40 + students to a classroom with only ☝️ very stressed out teacher.

Its a miracle that I am alive today. I encounter HERPES SIMPLEX VIRUS (HSV1/2) for good four (4) years, six (6) months and twelve (12) day with my calculations, before I meet the great Dr. Abumere. I am Tina Richard from Fresno California, united state of America and I was affected with herpes virus.Herpes is a viral infection cause by the Herpes simplex virus, marked by painful, watery blister in the skin or mucous membrane or on the genitals. This was what I suffered for good four years. I have visited CVS Pharmacy in Fresno for treatment but no improvement. I meet Dr.Abumere online while I was searching for herpes cure I read a testimony about his work. I give a try that now becomes a testimony in my life. I contacted Dr.Abumere on Email: doctorabumere6@gmail.com or WhatsApp: +2349021975055

There must be some very frightening things going on at home for many of these children. Kids learn trust, kindness, empathy, boundaries and healthy relationships at home. These teachers are angels.

If your child is crawling around the class room and can’t pay attention to the teacher ….there is a good chance your child might be deficient in minerals such as iodine and selenium. Most people don’t realize that many children suffer with ADD and ADHD… from not enough good iodine that comes from kelp in their diet. I posted a video, Iodine and Cancer…What they aren’t telling you…by Felicia McCarron..too much info to list. Lifelong iodine deficiency also causes premature aging and cancer etc etc etc….if a mother doesn’t have enough iodine when pregnant…the child will have ADHD and a lower IQ etc. iodine deficiency is the number one preventable cause of mental retardation and deafness on the planet 🌎

but I think the home life also needs to be examined? Is it chaotic? Is the child being abused? Is the child getting enough good sleep or food when their at home ???

I commend the teachers patience for dealing with such highly undisciplined children.👏👏👏They are dealing with whatever these babies are bringing with them from home. So teachers are definitely UNDERPAID in my opinion. 😏

Children are a real gift from god and the father if you really don’t think you can cope as having children is the biggest responsibility ever if you don’t understand this and are just to naive do not have children people should not have children if they can’t care for them

I’m totally moved by this innovative approach to help nurture those children that need a little extra help to settle in to their school role
The dedication and professionalism shown by the teacher is truly amazing
I’ was a teacher for 25 years and I relate to how proud she is of her achievements with these young children
It’s a wonderful feeling when you see the children flourish and it’s obvious that she has enabled these children to become valued members of society as evert child matters
